i couldnt finish in time but i did make something... :(
inspired by celeste and og sonic games
thanks to heartbeast's platformer tutorial i wouldnt have gotten close without it

GDD so you can see what i was trying to do: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GKG8W4zSYHS72pDBicLizyi5FW6HO1Vsf5i7oz5Yuio/...

the only things missing are the audio (ehich i kinda expected not to happen) and the actual levels to play themselves. the main gimmick was going to be you had to beat the level in a certain time before exploding, and you could get medals for beating the level even faster. but i couldnt get that last part to work, and also DIDNT HAVE EVEN ONE FULL LEVEL, so i removed the death timer.

this was my first time making a game in godot, and the closest ive got to completing a game development project. itd have been way nicer to say i actually did it, but with 0 godot experience, barely-not-amateur coding ability, and balancing school work, i cant say im that surprised, im more just sad. though i suppose if i choose to participate again, I'll have a better chance at finishing the game, and ive improved my overall coding skills. this was very stressful though, and for that stress to be justified with failure doesnt feel great.

i did build a test first level, and slapped a little sandbox on top so theres at least a little more to do. have fun playing everyone elses games :)

controls

left, right - normal movement

down in air - fastfall

c - jump, confirm menu option (you can neutral jump like fron celeste lol)

x - roll (fastfall jnto a slope while rolling to go fast)

b - restart

escape - exit level (not like theres a reason to...)

Nice job for a first game in Godot. Controls were hard for me to use, but reading this is your first time in Godot. Then this is impressive how far you got. Hang in there. Hopefully, doing more game jams, you will improve to be able to finish a game. My game jam entry is really weak compared to yours. Good job in what you did accomplish! I have done several game jam and still haven't finished a full playable game, so keep up the hard work.
